PETRONAS PD&T HSSE Kassim Selamat

VISIOLAB is proud to have partnered with PETRONAS PD&T and Dentsu to create the Kassim Selamat campaign video, blending creativity, impactful storytelling, and purposeful messaging to drive meaningful change.
Project Overview

Commissioned by PETRONAS PD&T through Dentsu, the HSSE Kassim Selamat Campaign Video was developed to emphasize critical health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) messages to employees and stakeholders. The challenge was to deliver a relatable and impactful campaign that reinforced PETRONAS’ safety culture, aligning with their mission to achieve Mission: ZERO-Possible and uphold key initiatives like ZeTo Rules, Jom Patuh & Tegur, and Stop Work Authority. The video needed to not only inform but also inspire behavioral change across all levels of the organization.

Project Challenges

VISIOLAB’s approach focused on effectively embedding the key HSSE messages into a relatable narrative:

  1. Humanizing Safety: The creation of Kassim Selamat, a character embodying the daily challenges and responsibilities of PETRONAS employees, allowed the audience to see themselves in his journey, making the HSSE messages more relatable.
  2. Integrating Core Messages: The campaign strategically incorporated PETRONAS’ HSSE principles.
  3. Engaging Delivery: Through relatability and authenticity, Kassim Selamat’s narrative made the key messages accessible, helping employees connect emotionally with the campaign’s goals.
  4. Behavioral Reinforcement: Crafting scenarios in Kassim Selamat’s journey that mirrored real-life workplace challenges, ensuring the audience could see themselves in the situations presented.
  5. Immersive Sound and Visual Design: We elevated the production quality by focusing on dynamic sound design and a carefully curated color palette. These elements were tailored to enhance the narrative, evoke emotional responses, and create a strong visual identity for the campaign.

  • High-Quality Production: Leveraging professional direction, cinematic visuals, and dynamic storytelling, we ensured the video maintained engagement while delivering its messages effectively.
  • Sound Design Excellence: Custom sound effects and a carefully mixed audio track were used to amplify key moments, enhancing the emotional depth of the narrative and immersing the audience in the story.
  • Visual Colors and Tone: A distinct color grading strategy was applied to visually reinforce the campaign’s themes, creating a memorable and cohesive visual experience that supported the storytelling.
  • Close Collaboration: Regular touchpoints with PETRONAS and Dentsu ensured the campaign aligned with brand guidelines and corporate messaging.

VISIOLAB produced a full content suite for Velesto Energy at OGA 2024. This multi-layered project demonstrated Velesto Energy’s innovations and capabilities in the oil and gas sector, engaging event delegates and an online audience.
Project Overview

Velesto Energy approached VISIOLAB with a clear goal: to showcase their cutting-edge operations and technologies at OGA 2024. They needed a wide range of content that would visually communicate their expertise in the oil and gas industry, engage trade show attendees, and extend their reach through online channels. The project required high-end production, including a 360º virtual tour of their offshore drilling rig, immersive 3D animations, daily event coverage, and social media content to ensure continuous audience interaction throughout the event.

Project Challenges

Velesto Energy’s primary challenge was to present their complex drilling technologies and offshore operations in a visually compelling and easily digestible format for a diverse audience. They also needed to create a seamless, immersive experience that could educate potential clients, industry professionals, and students, both at the trade show and through digital platforms.

VISIOLAB devised a multi-pronged content strategy, aimed at solving these pain points:

  1. Simplified Technical Content: Through the use of 3D animation explainer videos, we simplified complex drilling processes, making them understandable for non-experts.
  2. Interactive Experience: The 360º drilling rig virtual tour offered an immersive ‘day-in-the-life’ experience of offshore work, giving trade show attendees and online viewers a first-hand look at the scale and operations of Velesto’s rigs.
  3. Constant Engagement: Daily social media content, live event coverage, and themed screensavers helped Velesto maintain continuous visibility and engagement with their audience throughout OGA 2024.

Project Strategy

VISIOLAB executed a comprehensive content production plan that spanned multiple platforms and mediums:

  • Corporate Video: We produced a dynamic corporate video highlighting Velesto Energy’s vision, values, and achievements. This became the centerpiece of their booth at OGA 2024.
  • 3D Drilling Animation Explainer: A detailed, visually appealing 3D animation that broke down the intricate drilling processes Velesto employs. This was crucial in simplifying their technical operations for a broader audience.
  • 360º Virtual Tour: Using cutting-edge technology, we created an immersive virtual tour of Velesto’s offshore drilling rig, showcasing key areas of the rig such as the helideck, living quarters, command room, and drilling floor. This interactive tour was featured at their OGA booth and on digital platforms, educating viewers about offshore life.
  • 3D Animation Logo, Tagline, and Theme Screensavers: We designed eye-catching animated logo sequences and screensavers that incorporated Velesto’s tagline and theme, reinforcing their branding across all digital touchpoints.
  • Event Coverage: VISIOLAB provided comprehensive event coverage, capturing the highlights of Velesto’s participation in OGA 2024. This included photography, videography, and live updates across social media platforms.
  • Daily Social Media Content: Throughout the event, we produced daily content, including videos, images, and updates, keeping Velesto’s audience engaged both onsite and online.

Project Execution

The content we created not only captured the attention of OGA attendees but also significantly boosted Velesto Energy’s online visibility:

  • Increased Engagement: The 360º virtual tour became a standout feature, attracting hundreds of visitors to their booth and receiving positive feedback from trade show delegates.

PETRONAS Rays of Hope: Uplifting Lives

This was "Amir and His Village," a title that hinted at a deeper connection we were about to discover.
Project Overview

This is a short documentary that took a month of planning and a heartfelt pitch before it got the green light.

We started our journey in the quiet of the night, leaving Cyberjaya's glowing skyline behind. Our destination was nestled deep in Pahang's embrace, where the modern world seemed to fade away. Arriving at Kuala Lipis at 3 am, we caught a few hours of rest before the real work began.

As dawn broke, we were greeted by a mesmerizing sight—the kampung waking up, a blend of tradition and the new dawn of progress. We met the acting Tok Batin, the village chief, and started to weave the story of a community being reborn through the support of Petronas.

PETRONAS had been working tirelessly, not just in Rakoh but all over Malaysia, empowering the various needy communities. They brought in solar-powered water filters, providing the villagers with a clean and constant water supply—a luxury in such remote areas. The night in Rakoh was no longer a veil of darkness; solar-powered lights now dotted the landscape, a beacon of safety and progress. Education was another cornerstone of their efforts, ensuring the villagers could maintain and grow with these new systems for years to come.

Yet, amidst this backdrop of change, we faced our own set of challenges. Language barriers and the unpredictable nature of working with children as our main actors tested our patience and creativity. But with the help of the villagers, especially one dedicated mother, we kept the shoot on track.

The documentary wrapped up later than planned, but the delay came with a silver lining—we captured the stunning sunset over a transformed village. Leaving was tough, especially when we saw our clients without a ride. So, in a spur-of-the-moment decision, we gave up our seats and hitched a ride on the back of the 4x4s, ensuring everyone got back safely.

We didn't just film a story; we became a part of it, witnessing the incredible impact Petronas has had on this vibrant community. A big shout-out to the team for pulling through every hurdle with a smile.

We were contacted by Sapura just shy of two weeks before LIMA 2023 to help Sapura to plan, design, produce, and execute multiple aspects of digital media production and media coverage for the event. We were tasked to cater for:

Project Challenges

As an interdisciplinary vendor that truly understands Sapura's nature of business, we have worked as an extension of their team and managed to successfully execute the deliverables in a relatively small window, with critically high expectations. Since the event was held in Langkawi, we had to plan and mobilize solutions with consideration of time and distance, and no room for errors.

With a new business under its wings, we have spent a fair share of time planning in the pre-production/discovery stage, as well as being available on-demand on-site for last-minute edits for multiple layers of approvals and testing, ensuring that the end-product runs smoothly without any hiccups.
